Where You Can Play Golden Nugget Online Casino
Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia are the only Golden Nugget online casino states. The brand entered each state using a different type of license.
The Four Live States
Each of the Golden Nugget states has its own licensing story.
- New Jersey. Golden Nugget’s online casino launched here in 2013 and still operates under the Golden Nugget Atlantic City resort’s permit. Among online casinos in New Jersey, it is the only case where both Golden Nugget businesses appear on one license record.
- Michigan. The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community is Golden Nugget’s licensed partner. The brand entered the Michigan online casino market when it opened in January 2021.
- Pennsylvania. Golden Nugget holds its own license here, without a land-based casino partner. The brand started Pennsylvania online casino play in August 2023.
- West Virginia. The Greenbrier resort holds the license. Golden Nugget offers West Virginia online casino games under it.
The Resorts Are a Different Company
DraftKings, Inc. runs Golden Nugget Online Casino. The land-based Golden Nugget properties in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Laughlin, Biloxi, and Lake Charles are owned by Fertitta Entertainment. Aside from the name, the two businesses are separate for players.
DraftKings agreed to buy Golden Nugget Online Gaming in August 2021 in an all-stock deal worth about $1.56 billion. The deal closed in May 2022 and did not include the resorts. Golden Nugget Online Casino does not offer online poker.
Legal States Where Golden Nugget Is Not Available
Four other states have legal online casinos, and none of them offers Golden Nugget an open route today.
- Connecticut. The law caps Connecticut online casinos at two, one per tribal nation. Both seats are taken, and DraftKings holds one of them under its own brand.
- Delaware. The state lottery contracts a single vendor for Delaware online casino games. Rush Street Interactive holds that contract.
- Rhode Island. Bally’s is the only operator in the Rhode Island online casino market.
- Maine. LD 1164 made online casino in Maine legal in January 2026, with each Wabanaki Nation allowed one commercial partner. The market is not live yet.
Caesars already holds three of the four available partner slots. DraftKings is the sports betting partner for the Passamaquoddy Tribe, but no casino partnership has been announced for that tribe. So far, there is no sign that Golden Nugget will be involved.
Nevada is not one of the Golden Nugget casino legal states, and it shows the name confusion most clearly. The state only allows online poker, so Golden Nugget Online Casino does not operate there.
The Golden Nugget on Fremont Street in Las Vegas is a Fertitta-owned resort and is not connected to any online casino license.
Everywhere Else
Online casinos are still illegal in all other states, including Texas, California, Florida, and New York, which are the four most populous. The list of Golden Nugget legal states can only grow in states that have legalized online casino. You can check our state-by-state gambling guides for updates.
Who Licenses Golden Nugget Online Casino
The four Golden Nugget casino states each have a regulator with a public register.
The Four Regulators
- The Michigan Gaming Control Board lists Golden Nugget Casino under the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.
- The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement lists the site under Golden Nugget Atlantic City. That resort holds permit NJIGP 25-002.
- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board lists Golden Nugget Online Gaming, LLC as its own certificate holder, operating since August 10, 2023.
- The West Virginia Lottery Commission licenses the brand through The Greenbrier.
How Golden Nugget Holds Its Licenses
The registers in the Golden Nugget online casino legal states show three kinds of license holders: a tribe in Michigan, resorts in New Jersey and West Virginia, and the online company itself in Pennsylvania.
In New Jersey, the Fertitta-owned Golden Nugget Atlantic City holds the permit and serves as the online casino’s market access partner. The online business itself is still owned by DraftKings, which operates Golden Nugget alongside its own DraftKings Casino brand.
