About our work

Methodology

BettingVerdict scores every operator out of 10 across five dimensions: licensing, price, offer, product, and practical experience.

On this page

Judging operators is more than just checking a license. Our review methodology includes specific factors taken into consideration. In-house testing data takes center stage instead of PR and marketing. Payout speeds, holds, rakes: we review everything independently, so players aren’t left out of the negatives.

The scores on our pages update automatically whenever source value changes. That, along with the “last verified” date on all review pages, tells players that the source is fresh and updated, rather than written and buried in the dust.

What We Score

We only score important factors and dimensions for the 51 operators on this website. State-pages, bonus-type, and game pages are not scored, as they are educational. They never carry a score nor display a rating.

Operator Reviews Carry a Score

Only the operators on BettingVerdict carry a score. These are not educational pages, but rather reviews after extensive in-house testing, with nothing left out per our editorial policy.

Everything Else Does Not

Everything else that you see on this page, including bonuses, games, or educational pages, carries no score.

The Five Scored Dimensions

Several dimensions are an important part of how we score operators’ scope. It starts with the licensing, continuing to other important factors that heavily impact the experience.

Licensing and Trust

The first and most important dimension. We don’t only scan for a badge displayed in the footer, but do manual reviews on validity by checking the license numbers. For prediction markets, we also scan the CFTC registration, which builds trust with players.

Payout speeds, fees, and more

Payout speeds are tested, not assumed. We test minimum eligible withdrawals across several payout options, comparing and rating the speeds for each. The same can be said for fees, rake for DFS, and structures for prediction markets.

Offer

Reliable gaming platforms always have decent bonus offers. We don’t rank bonuses for style, but substance. We review the bonus terms to ensure they’re fair instead of going for large bonus offers with bloated wagering requirements.

Product Depth

Another important dimension in our reviews. The game count, variety, and wager types, as well as contest formats, are evaluated and ranked per quality rather than quantity.

Practical Experience

How fast does the casino load on mobile devices? Is the user interface intuitive? These are all important factors in our experience, as a slow, clunky platform can derail the hands-on experience.

How the Five Dimensions are Weighed
Licensing and trust25%
Payout speeds, fees, etc.25%
Bonuses and promotions20%
Product depth15%
Practical experience15%
Total100%

As the table explains, payout speeds and licensing (trust) carry half the model. These are two things readers should be sure about, and they’re mentioned up front in our review methodology.

How Each Dimension Is Measured

Operators can say one thing, and our testing may prove otherwise. We look for rules as a rule instead of a claim, including the licensing number, measured payout speed, and more.

  • License Numbers Come from the Regulator: We check for license numbers on the licensee’s register, not on the operator’s site.
  • Payout Speed Is Tested, Not Quoted: To measure payout speed, we test three withdrawals per method, and compare the times, timestamped from request to receipt.
  • Hold and Rake Are Calculated: A sportsbook’s average hold is measured across fixed markets on a schedule. The DFS rake is measured from entry fees against a total prize pool, all on a fixed contest sample.
  • What We Leave Out: We don’t measure exact RTPs, unless published with a cited source and a date. No deposit bonuses or promo codes that don’t exist are written as “none offered”.

The 1 to 10 Scale

Scores on this page run from 1.0 to 10.0 (one decimal place). That goes for each dimension reviewed, which are then combined for the total score.

How the Score Is Calculated

Each dimension (factor) is scored individually. The tally is then added up to determine the quality on a scale from 1-10.

When Data Is Missing

If data is missing, it may hold the review back. No operators on BettingVerdict are reviewed and published just for the sake of it. Incomplete records mean we can’t fully finish the review.

Who Scores, and How We Stay Independent

The scores are made by independent expert writers, as stated on the named author on the byline. No scoring dimension takes our affiliate revenue or commission rates into account as an input.

Who Sets the Score

The individual score for each review is set by individuals, not AI or anything else. Bought-and-paid-for reviews don’t exist on this page. Commercial partnerships have zero influence on our scoring algorithm.

What Does Not Influence It

Our commercial partnerships don’t influence the score. Each author’s credentials are on every page, and they can be held publicly accountable for any ratings.

Our Commercial Relationships

BettingVerdict is a business, and as such, we earn a commission when readers sign up through the featured links. It has no effect on how an individual operator ranks on our site.

How We Make Money

Every business is designed to make money, and that’s how we operate as well. Signing up to an operator through featured links results in a small commission fee for us, but doesn’t impact the rating. At BettingVerdict, you will read unbiased and honest reviews.

Where the Disclosure Appears

The affiliate disclosure for this isn’t buried in footers or deep beneath the pages. It appears above the first commercial link on every page, and is linked to the full statement.

How Often We Re-Check

Two ways we re-check everything: weekly, and quarterly. We believe it’s important to run checks from time to time, as data at gaming platforms may change quickly.

  • What We Check Weekly: On a weekly basis, we check for the welcome and no deposit terms, including wagering requirements and bonus expiry dates.
  • What We Check Quarterly: Quarterly, we check for license validity, product, support, and scan for any potential payout changes.
  • The Last Verified Date: A signal that sits on every page, telling the reader there are or there are no changes on the last verified date.

Depending on re-checks, the score is recomputed again, especially if one of the main input fields sees a change.

How to Challenge a Score

We hold our reviews to the highest standard, and want our data to be accurate. We welcome corrections from both readers and operators.

To challenge a rating, name the specific data you believe is wrong. Cite a verifiable public source. For example, if it’s about the license, state the official licensee register. You can submit evidence by reaching out via the contact us page.

What Happens Next

Once we verify the source, we won’t just change the article all of a sudden. The operator score will be recomputed through our model, the last verified date field updates, and correction permanently logged in our system.
