About BettingVerdict

What is BettingVerdict?

On this page

BettingVerdict is a site that reviews licensed US operators across four verticals. That’s online casinos, sportsbooks, daily fantasy sports, and prediction markets.

What separates us from other listings in this space is what we measure and judge directly rather than taking it from a marketing brochure. The payout speed, sportsbook hold, and DFS rake are three figures no operator publishes on their own. All the numbers are backed up by last reviewed dates, and are written by real authors.

What BettingVerdict Covers

The Four Verticals

BettingVerdict tracks a total of 25 licensed online casinos, 12 sportsbooks, 6 prediction markets, and 8 daily sports fantasy operators. In total, 45 products across four verticals, all with verified US licenses.

States We Cover

Legal availability for all these operators varies by vertical, meaning that not all operators are universally available in each US state.

  • Online casinos: Legal in seven states.
  • Sportsbooks: Legal in 40 states.
  • Daily fantasy sports operators: Legal in 39 states.

Prediction markets are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), so they fall under federal instead of state laws.

What We Do Not Cover

Betting Verdict covers licensed and federally regulated operators onlys. Whatever doesn’t have a license doesn’t belong on our pages.

How We Rate Operators

Rating operators is more than just trusting the marketing language. A proper review covers a variety of factors that matter to the reader.

The Five Scored Dimensions

Every operator is scored across five dimensions.

  • Licensing and trust: 25%
  • Price: 25%
  • Offers: 20%
  • Product depth: 15%
  • Practical experience: 15%

Licensing and price carry half the model, and that’s two things readers can’t check in detail on their own. These are also two dimensions an operator has a strong reason to obscure, and that’s why they sit at the top.

Where the Scores Come From

The scores come from a detailed breakdown of the dimensions. They’re all data-led. To see which data feeds each dimension, you can view it on the methodology page. This is just a summary; that’s the spec sheet.

What We Measure Ourselves

Independent testing across the most important dimensions for each operator are reviewed and measures by our authors.

Payout Speed

The payout speed is reviewed as a test withdrawal per payment method. We measure the time between request and receipt, clocked directly instead of being taken from an operator’s payments page.

Sportsbook Hold

The sportsbook hold is measured across a fixed basket of markets on a fixed schedule. It’s not an estimate from a single snapshot.

DFS Rake

DFS rakes are computed from entry fees, measured against the total prize pool, and a fixed contest sample.

Where We Take Figures From

All figures are taken via the following:

  1. Payout speed comes from our own testing.
  2. Licence data comes from regulator registers.
  3. Every other figure is cited and dated.

License numbers are checked on each regulator’s licensee register, not blindly trusting the badge at the operator. The average RTP is only published if there’s a cited, verifiable source. If there’s no such information, it’s omitted.

How We Make Money

BettingVerdict is a business, and as such, we earn a commission when readers sign up from links on our pages. While we do make revenue, our reviews and ratings aren’t influenced by it.

Where the Revenue Comes From

BettingVerdict earns a small commission when readers sign up through some links on our website.

Why It Does Not Affect the Scores

No dimension in our scoring model uses affiliate terms, partnerships, or commission rates as input. The commercial field in the registry is structurally separated from what we write about.

The affiliate disclosure appears before the first link on every commercial page. It’s not buried in the footer, but transparently presented for our readers. You can check the full disclosure on the link.

Corrections and Contact

How to Correct Something

Corrections on our pages need to have specific data. That includes citing a source for the correction, as general disagreement won’t trigger a review on its own.

We accept corrections from readers and operators, using the same standard for both. If you believe a page needs correcting, contact us directly. If the correction is accepted, the score is recomputed. We add a last-verified date to let readers know about it.

Responsible gaming sits at the core of BettingVerdict’s goals. If you’re here because gambling has stopped being fun, you should reach out to a responsible gambling support organization. This content is intended for adults in the USA aged 21 and over, and is not legal advice.
