Editorial Policy

BettingVerdict Editorial Policy

This editorial policy governs everyone who writes, edits, or publishes content on BettingVerdict. It encompasses every page on the site.

This editorial policy governs everyone who writes, edits, or publishes content on BettingVerdict. It encompasses every page on the site.

The three main things it covers are where facts come from, who’s accountable for writing, and what stops something from being published. Data rows with missing fields don’t get a low score; they won’t be published at all.

Who This Policy Applies To

Who Is Bound

The BettingVerdict editorial policy applies to every contributor to the site, whether it’s in-house staff or freelance writers. There are no separate standards for either.

Which Pages Are Covered

The policy covers every page on the site. This includes the commercial pages. Pages carrying operator links are judged by the same standards as an information guide. It’s the same sourcing, authorship, and verification rules regardless of whether the page converts.

Where Our Facts Come From

Our facts come from verified sources, and not just marketing hype. We make the effort to check everything individually instead of trusting what an operator says on its website.

License Details

License numbers aren’t taken straight from the website, but from the regulator’s licensee register. Self-reported license claims are never treated as confirmation.

Figures We Measure Ourselves

The figures we measure ourselves include the sportsbook average hold, payout speed, and DFS rake. They’re measured directly for each operator instead of taken from the website’s marketing pages.

For the full breakdown of each method review, see our methodology page. This page states the rules that are measured, but not the process.

Figures We Will Not Publish

We will never publish figures that don’t have a cited source or a date. In this case, they’re omitted rather than estimated.

Average RTP figures are a good example. Some competitors may publish these without a source. However, that’s the exact number our policy keeps out, unless it can be traced back to a strong source.

How We Record a Null

Values that don’t exist are written out. For example, an operator without no-deposit offers will be marked as “none offered” instead of being left blank.

Blank fields look like research that didn’t take place. A stated null is reported plainly.

Independence From Commercial Partners

Affiliate disclosure is important for our operations. It’s disclosed before the first link for each page, stating independence from commercial partners.

How We Earn

BettingVerdict is a business, and businesses are built to earn money. We earn a commission when readers sign up to operators through links on our pages.

What Commercial Terms Cannot Touch

Our checked and scored dimensions are separated from the commission rates we earn, partnership status, or affiliate terms. Commercial fields in the operator registry are not readable by the scoring pipeline.

No Operator Preview

Operators never see a review before it’s published. No operators can pay us for placement on ranked lists, or removing findings they don’t like.

The full disclosure sits above the first commercial link on every page. It’s not buried in the footer.

Authorship and Attribution

Authorship on BettingVerdict is fully disclosed with a name on each page and credentials link.

Named Bylines

Every page on the website carries a byline with a credentials link. House bylines or unattributed pages aren’t used anywhere.

Credentials

Credentials lines point to relevant and verifiable experience. This doesn’t mean a job title. Our readers should be able to check claims instead of just reading them.

Who Sets a Score

All scores are set by the author named in the byline. The accountability lies to a specific person, not an unknown process.

AI Assistance

AI tools may be used for research, drafting, or outlining content. These tools aren’t used to publish without supervision.

All fact checks are performed by real people. They check every figure and source, completing compliance reviews before the content is live. The byline reflects the person’s accountability, but not the tool’s involvement.

What Blocks Publication

The most common publication block on BettingVerdict is incomplete data.

Incomplete Data Blocks Publication

If there’s a missing required field, it doesn’t result in a lower score. In this case, it stops publishing completely. Operators with incomplete data rows are skipped from publishing, and there are no exceptions even if an otherwise-strong candidate ranks well in other fields.

What Gets Re-Checked, and How Often

Terms, bonuses, and other important factors change often at various operators. This means re-checking the content and quality from time to time. Bonuses, wagering requirements, no-deposit offers, and welcome offers are re-checked weekly.

Automated: bonus and offer changes, weekly, via the crawler. Manual: payout, re-tested on a trigger the team can actually meet, such as annually, when readers report payout problems, or when an operator changes payment processors.

Rating markups are not emitted whenever a score hasn’t been published. Claims that aren’t made in prose aren’t made in code either.

Corrections and Complaints

We welcome corrections and complaints from operators and readers alike.

How to Submit a Correction

If you think a page needs a correction or you have some kind of complaint, you should name the specific field and cite a source.

General disagreements with anything are not enough on their own. This standard applies to all the pages. You can submit one here if you think corrections are needed.

What Happens Next

If a correction is accepted, the values will be changed, and the score will be recomputed. It’ll also reflect the last verified data, and the change will be logged into the system. Nothing will be quietly adjusted without a clear reason.

Who Can Submit One

Corrections will be accepted from both readers and operators, provided there’s a credible source behind them. Correction reviews are completed in 2 days.

Responsible Gambling Standards

Age and Eligibility

The content on our pages is intended for players over the legal age as required by the state. There are no exceptions by vertical or page.

Language We Do Not Use

BettingVerdict doesn’t guarantee wins nor frames gambling as a source of income. We also don’t use any urgency language attached to any offer. These aren’t style preferences, but rules a page can be checked against.

Operators We Will Not List

Our pages only publish US-licensed operators in their respective states. We will not list sweepstakes platforms, social casinos, crypto platforms, or offshore operators that are not licensed to operate in the United States of America.

Every page’s helpline is specifically added for the state it covers. Readers in Michigan need the correct number and not the generic national helpline. See our responsible gambling resources for support.
