Where You Can Play Hollywood Casino Online
The Four Online States
Hollywood Casino is currently live in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
The casino recently entered these four states. Its app went live in Pennsylvania on December 18, 2024, then in Michigan in January 2025, New Jersey in March 2025, and West Virginia on August 20, 2025. The Hollywood Casino legal states went up to four in under nine months.
The App and the Resorts Are Not the Same Map
The Hollywood Casino app and resorts with the same name are different. PENN Entertainment runs Hollywood Casino resorts across more states than the four where the Hollywood Casino app is available. The reason here is clear: online casino is only permitted in a handful of states. Entering a Hollywood Casino resort in a legal state doesn’t give players access to anything offered online. The app and the resort are separate, and they only share the same name.
PENN explains that the standalone app was built for players who want to play only online slots and casino games. Initially, PENN partnered with ESPN Bet to offer sports betting. However, PENN ended this arrangement early, and ESPN Bet transitioned to become theScore Bet on December 1, 2025.
Hollywood Casino remained intact after the change and continued offering an online casino in all four states. In addition, you can still access Hollywood Casino inside theScore Bet using the same login details.
Legal States Where the App Is Not Available
Hollywood Casino is not available in three live legal markets, and the reason is primarily structural and not the operator’s choice.
In Connecticut, only two online casino operators are allowed, each tied to the state’s tribal nations, and they’re taken. Delaware runs its casino gaming through its state lottery with one vendor. Rhode Island also runs a single-operator market with Bally.
Maine offers a different structural challenge to Hollywood Casino. The state has already approved legal casino gaming, but it isn’t live yet. Online casino gambling was approved in January 2026 under LD 1164, which assigned only one commercial partner to each of the state’s recognized Wabanaki Nations. All seats are taken, and there’s no opening for Hollywood Casino.
Nevada allows online poker and not online casino games. Hollywood Casino isn’t live in Nevada, and can’t be counted in the Hollywood Casino app states.
Everywhere Else
Online casino gaming isn’t allowed in the remaining states, which is why the Hollywood Casino app doesn’t follow PENN resorts in these areas. These resorts follow a separate land-based gaming law, and the app requires a separate legal framework that hasn’t been passed yet. Who Licenses Hollywood Casino Online
The Four Regulators
Hollywood Casino reports to four different regulators: Michigan Gaming Control Board, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, and the West Virginia Lottery Commission.
How Hollywood Casino Holds Its Licenses
To understand HollywoodCasino’s operationso, we’ll need toseek how it holds its license in all four live states. PENN Entertainment operates the online casino and app and also manages the land-based Hollywood Casino. The same company operates Hollywood Casino’s online and physical locations, but they differ in license and where they operate.
Interestingly, PENN properties also give market access to other online brands in some states, so a Hollywood Casino property appearing in a registry doesn’t automatically mean that it’s the same Hollywood Casino app.
Across all four states, Hollywood Casino retains the same rule for players: must be 21+, physically located in one of the four states, as verified by geolocation services.
