Mississippi allows online sports betting, but only inside a casino. Step outside, and the app stops working. Online casino games and daily fantasy sports aren't legal in the state.

Mississippi sportsbooks guide explains where you can place a bet at each casino.

When you are on a casino floor, you will find options like BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers, and Golden Nugget. Each of these offers app-based betting inside licensed casinos.

We do not have a Mississippi page for prediction markets because they are not covered by state law. To check the current status, use the prediction market regulatory tracker.

Taxable income

Mississippi State Tax on Winnings

In Mississippi, gambling winnings are considered taxable income. In 2026, the flat personal income tax rate is 4.00%, down from 4.4% as of January 1 under the Build Up Mississippi Act. This rate will keep dropping and is set to reach 3% by 2030.

No Active Gambling Bills

Statewide Mobile Sports Betting

Statewide mobile sports betting has come close to passing in Mississippi. In 2026, the House approved a mobile betting bill, HB 4074, with a 100-11 vote. The bill was linked to funding the state's public pension system, but the Senate did not consider it.

During the same session, the Senate focused on a different bill, SB 2104, which would have banned online sweepstakes casinos. The House did not consider this bill either. Both bills failed because neither chamber wanted to act first.

What Is Not Moving

As of September 2026, there are no active gambling bills in the Mississippi legislature. Mississippi online casinos have never had a bill introduced for them in the state's history. The 2026 attempts to ban sweepstakes and allow mobile betting both failed.

That's the clearest answer to the question: Is betting legal in Mississippi beyond sports betting? Nothing pending right now would change it.
