Colorado has a flat tax rate of 4.40% that applies on gambling winnings. What this means is that no matter how much you win, you will pay 4.40% in taxes. In 2024, the rate temporarily dropped to 4.25% under the TABOR revenue-trigger mechanism. It later reverted back to 4.40% in 2025 and 2026. Any source that shows the rate with the dip is out of date.
Federal tax applies on top of the state rate. Winnings reported on a W-2G form are withheld at a tax rate of 24%. The federal tax also depends on your tax bracket, which itself applies to all your income. This is general information, and not tax advice.
